CoDriver software was developed by Australian software specialists Roy Anderson and Peter Davies. Between them they have more than 50 years experience in developing IT and software solutions and met while they were working in the transport industry for a Queensland based trucking company. Roy found that longhaul drivers were finding it increasingly difficult to do the calculations necessary for fatigue management compliance on the road.
They set about designing a solution that would help drivers manage, record and plan their time on the road in line with Australian driving schemes. The initial concept of CoDriver was developed in 2002 and was designed to run on a personal digital assistant, or PDA.
However, it took a few years for PDA technology to become fast enough to process the vast number of calculations required to make CoDriver run quickly and efficiently.
In 2007, after extensive on road and in truck testing, CoDriver was launched. Roy and Peter have chosen to use iPaq PDAs to run CoDriver as the brand is reliable and has been on the market for quite some time.
They are joint directors of CoDriver Software Pty Ltd, an Australian company, based in South East Queensland.
